District WellSAT Wellness Plan
Our district’s wellness policy was developed using the Missouri School Boards’ Association (MSBA) model policy as a framework. The MSBA policy served as a best-practice guide to ensure our policy aligned with current federal standards and nationally recognized expectations. Only minor modifications were made to the model policy, and these changes were limited to items that were not applicable to our district’s specific circumstances.
This approach was intentionally chosen to ensure strong alignment with the WellSAT assessment tool, allowing our policy to meet or exceed required benchmarks for comprehensiveness and quality. By closely mirroring the model policy, we ensured consistency with proven standards while maintaining relevance for our local context.
Additionally, the wellness committee and staff were provided with clear guidance and expectations regarding implementation and compliance. As a result, our wellness policy now clearly and comprehensively addresses all required components, including Federal Requirements, Nutrition Services, Nutrition Education, Physical Activity, and Employee Wellness. This alignment supports a cohesive, well-understood approach to promoting health and wellness across the district.
