FBLA Virtual State Leadership Conference

May 11, 2020

Members of the Missouri Future Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda Chapter, (local Chapter Drexel FBLA) recently participated in the 2020 Missouri FBLA-PBL Virtual State Leadership Conference.  This virtual experience provided members from across Missouri with over 200 hours of educational and leadership content, live forums with industry leaders, and interactive educational activities in an online platform.

Stephen Mackey, a character development coach and motivational speaker, shared a message to equip people to take responsibility and change their lives, keynoted the conference.

Over 3,500 students and advisers came together for the event, with over 150 business education related contests running during the event; contest topics range from accounting to website design, marketing to mobile application development.  2020 marked the first year the conference was not held in person.

Drexel FBLA is proud to announce that two of our members out scored and outperformed other students from schools all across the state.  Logan Cochran placed 5th in Computer Problem Solving after competing against more than 300 other students beginning with District competition.  Russell Borden placed 3rd in Advertising after competing against more than 500 students beginning with District competition.

Borden's 3rd place finish will send him on to FBLA-PBL Nationals.  The FBLA-PBL National Conference was set to be held in Salt Lake City, but like the Missouri FBLA State Leadership Conference, the National FBLA-PBL Competition will be held virtually in late June. There Borden will compete with students nationwide.

The mission of Missouri FBLA-PBL is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.  Missouri FBLA-PBL membership exceeds 15,500, making it the second largest state chapter of the organization in the nation and the second largest CTSO in Missouri.
